Upcoming Mushroom Hunts
Midweek Foray
Fall has arrived, and so have the mushies!! Join us midweek in the woods as we take an adventure where we will (hopefully) discover Oregon’s fall fruiting mushrooms. We will be meeting on the east side of Portland, in Damascus at 9:15 am, caravaning out to our foray location (roughly 70 minutes), and hunting as a group for about 3 hours. We will be walking and talking all things mushrooms—how to find, harvest, cook, and preserve. You can expect to learn about chanterelles, boletes, chicken of the woods, and more!
No guarantees, of course—Mother Nature can be a wild one!!

Family Foray
Join us with your family—kids included! This is a gentler hike than our normal up and down steep hillsides, but still may include some logs/debris to walk over. We will be walking and talking about fall-fruiting mushrooms, how and when to find them, how to harvest them, how to preserve them, etc. We will be comparing edible mushrooms with inedible mushrooms, and connecting with nature. We will be meeting at a local Damascus, OR location at 9:00am, and driving our own vehicles to our hiking point. This will be at 2-3 hour hike, depending on how our group is doing.
We do teach the littles about being a steward to our land, so we cap these hikes at 8 people, so as not to trample the forests while we are harvesting mushrooms. We look forward to walking with you, and possibly your kiddos!
